The Question:

Where can I get bedding & furniture for my teenage daughter? ? She needs a new twin size bed & new furniture? Where can i go I’m looking to spend not TOO much! Thanks.

The Answer:

Beds can be fairly expensive, so I understand where you’re coming from! I have some recommendations that you might like for a teen bed.

Panel Beds – Panel beds save you a lot of money because you don’t need to use a box spring. If you’ve ever gone mattress shopping, then you know those can be pricey! Night & Day has a cute bed for $188.58, and it ships for free. It has a five-year warranty, which I like. If you get the bed in Cherry or Dark Chocolate, it’s about $100 more.

Twin Bed w/ Slatted Headboard – This bed has more presence in a room, and the savings are more substantial if you get it on sale (link below). If you like the slats on the headboard, you could also look into the Molasses Bed from Night & Day, which has a similar effect, but is more elaborate.

The Question:

How can I create a room that’s chill, but you can set the mood in?

I wanna redecorate my room,I have a decent paying job, and my sister gave me a bunch of candles. And can black and whitce set the mood? In my room is black and white tile, and I really dont wanna go through the trouble of reinstalling carpet. The walls are black and white too. Im willing to buy new furniture. What can I put in my room to make it chill and be able to set the mood in that goes with black and white.

FLAP Stores’ Answer:

If you want to add an accent color, the good news is that anything goes with black and white. Red is an emotionally intense color, but blue is calming if you choose a “warm” blue like this one. Green is considered calming and refreshing, and it will relax you.

If you want to invest in furniture, try pieces like a love seat, armchair, and pillows in your accent color of choice, or in a neutral wood. You can also introduce color with your window treatments (roman blinds, for example), paintings or other art, and soft furnishings. Have fun with it – you actually have a ton of options when it comes to a mostly black-and-white room.

You’re definitely on the right track with the candles. If you want to invest in another quick “mood-setting” room addition, we would recommend getting floor and/or table lamps that take low watt bulbs and that have modern-looking lampshades to blend with your black-and-white interior.

As for your floor, don’t forget that you can get a soft rug to cover part or most of it, which can add comfort. Get a non-slip pad and put it under the rug… slipping and falling definitely won’t set the mood!

[Recommended] colour schemes and furniture for a teen girls bedroom?

At the moment my room is quite little girly with pinks everywhere. I have quite a spacious room with cream walls and carpet with a huge pink rug, pink blinds and a double bed with White and pink hearts and alot of soft toys. I don’t know whether to put a cheap seating arrangement for when friends come over or not… And I don’t like the colour pink does anyone have a colour that I wouldn’t really grow out of..? And an idea for what every teen should have in their room? Thanks to everyone taking time to answer.

You’re not going to have too much trouble changing colors in your room—that’s the benefit of having neutral walls. Even if you do outgrow your next color scheme, it won’t be hard changing your room when you’re using accent colors on things like window treatments, rugs, pillows, etc.Have you ever considered looking into the meaning of colors, and choosing something based on that? You can check out this chart to guide you. Colors for a bedroom should be soothing, but not depressing. Light purple is considered romantic and nostalgic, and it’s good for creativity and feels luxurious. Aqua green symbolizes healing and protection; light blue is soft and is known to be a healing color. You can select a color + black or grey, too, which will help to add more sophistication to your room without leaving it looking too mature or modern. There are a lot of neutral floral patterns for curtains and also for Roman blinds, which can look playful in a bedroom.You can also try colored wall decals, which are removable and repositionable, to add color to your room. There are words, geometrics, florals, and tons of other stuff to add to your walls.

As for the seating arrangement? You should definitely get something if you have friends over a lot. Your room can look better because of it, if you choose something that matches your overall design, and your friends will be more comfortable, too. Pod or dish chairs are fairly inexpensive and cool, or you could go with a soft loveseat. Every teen should have a place for friends to hang out, a place to work (desk or table), and a bed. If you think of your room in “zones,” like a work zone, a sleep zone, and a socializing zone, you’ll probably have an easier time decorating. If you have the space, you might want to consider setting up a small vanity section, with a mirror, table, and a stool just for doing your hair and makeup. It can look really cute, and it’s much more comfortable than standing up, using your desk, or having everything on your sink.
